departure fashion night at festival for fashion & photography

Das diesjährige 13 festival for fashion & photography, schloss mit der wunderbaren departure fashion night. Wir konnten tolle Wiener Mode von GON, Ute Ploier, Bradaric Ohmae undFemme Maison in einzigartigen Tableaux Vivants betrachten.

Der Abschluss des Festivals wurde gebührend mit gleich zwei After Parties gefeiert, die jedoch zugleich das Ende des Festivals in dieser Form markierten.

Wir freuen uns, Teil des 13 festival gewesen zu sein und darüber, dass wir viele tolle junge Designer und unzählige andere Modebegeisterte und interessierte Menschen kennenlernen durften.

Wir sagen danke an alle und freuen uns, was die Zukunft bringen wird!

Die Portfolios der nominierten Designer für die AFA-Austria Fashion Awards wurden von fünf internationalen Künstlern zum Material für neue Kunstwerke, die auf iPads präsentiert werden. Dabei sind äußerst spannende neue Bilder entstanden, die auch noch heute Abend im MAK zu sehen sind - unbedingt anschauen!

AFA NOMINEE // Fashion Production Award - women’s wear - MESHIT

The Viennese fashion label meshit, known for their unique and playfully “mashing” designs, are nominated for this year’s Austrian Fashion Award 2013 (AFA) for production female

Ida Steixner and Lena Krampf form the young Viennese label meshit. After graduating from the Fashion Institute Hetzendorf, the young Viennese fashion designers launched their label meshit in 2010. Since then lots of things happened - the label meshit achieved national and international success. Pieces of their collection were even sold at TopShop, and meshit was awarded the Fashion Award of the City of Vienna and was nominated at the Vienna Awards for the best “Best Newcomer”.

In 2010, their simple but unique designs, were selected for the Topshop Emerge project. In 2011 meshit won the Fashion Award of the City of Vienna during the 11 festival for fashion & photography.

Their fashion is for the young and urban trendy generation, who like the imaginative collections and easy-to-wear outfits, and other unique pieces for the fashion conscious fashionistas.

Hinter dem jungen Wiener Label meshit, stehen Ida Steixner und Lena Krampf. Nach ihrem Abschluss an der Modeschule Hetzendorf haben die Wiener Jungdesignerinnen das Label meshit in 2010 gegründet. Seitdem ist viel passiert – das Label meshit hat internatonale und nationale Erfolg verzeichnet. Teile ihrer Kollektion wurden sogar bei Top Shop verkauft, weiters wurden sie 2011 für den “Best Newcomer” Preis der Vienna Awards nominiert.

Ihr schlichtes aber außergewöhnliches Design, wurde in 2010 für das Emerge-Topshop-Projekt ausgewählt. 2011 gewann Meshit im Rahmen des 11 festival for fashion & photography den Modepreis der Stadt Wien.

Ihre Mode spricht die junge und urbane trendbewusste Generation an, die ihren fantasievollen Kollektionen und easy-to-wear Outfits tragen, sowie weitere einzigartige Stücke für die modebewusste Fashionvictims.

meshit S/S 14 collection:

Inspiration: Hip-Hop culture and sports clothing, as well as classic menswear and dandy look

Key Pieces: long printed dresses, shirts with pocket detail, shirt dresses, wool jackets with detachable sleeves, classic men’s style trousers, sporty mesh sweaters and dresses

Colors: white, tan / pink, red-orange, dark blue, black

Pressure: designed by meshit, inspired by the hip-hop culture and traditional African patterns. Hand signs (the “M” for meshit show) and gold link chains were used for the pressure

Materials: thin woolen fabrics (striped) cotton, thin flowing viscose materials, grid / mesh fabrics, glossy coated jerseys and woolen fabrics

Inspiration: Hip-Hop Kultur und Sport-Bekleidung, sowie klassische Herrenmode und der Dandy-Look

Key-Pieces: lange bedruckte Kleider, Hemden mit Taschendetails, Hemdkleider, Woll-Jacken mit abnehmbaren Ärmeln, klassische Herren-style Hosen, sportliche mesh-Pullover und Kleider

Farben: weiß, hautfarben/rosa, rot-orange, dunkelblau, schwarz

Druck: designed von meshit, inspiriert von der Hip-Hop Kultur und traditionellen afrikanischen Mustern. Hand-Zeichen (die ein “M” für meshit zeigen) und goldene Gliederketten wurden für den Druck verwendet

Materialien: dünne Woll-Stoffe, (gestreifte) Baumwolle, dünne fließende Viskose-Materialien, Netz/mesh-Stoffe, glänzend beschichtete Jerseys und Wollstoffe

AFA NOMINEE // Fashion Production Award - women’s wear - MARK&JULIA

Mark Stephen Baigent and Juliet Rupertsberger, the fashion designer duo, known for their label Mark&Julia, are nominated at this year’s Austria Fashion Awards (AFA) for the Fashion Production Award of the Vienna Economic Chamber in the categorie women’s wear. "Put on your walking boots and get out into the world", is the motto of Mark&Julia’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection, inspired by the Sherpa people living in Tibet

Mark Stephen Baigent and Juliet Rupertsberger, the young and talented fashion designer duo, met during their fashion studies in Linz and quickly became good friends.

Together they launched their label Mark&Julia in 2010. With their first collection “Trigonomia” they won the EVOQUE NextGen Award. After that they quickly showed success, and presented their collections in Paris, Copenhagen, Berlin and Vienna. With their third collection “Hybrid” in March 2012 they managed to go to the finals for the “Best Newcomer” at the Vienna Awards for Fashion & Lifestyle. Only a month later, they won the prestigious „Ringstrassen Galerien Designer Award“.

"Put on your walking boots and get out into the world", is the motto of Mark&Julia for Spring/Summer 2014 collection. With their new collection PERTUNGBA for Spring/Summer 2014 Mark & Julia presents a pilgrimage through the Himalayas, inspired by the Sherpa people living in Tibet.

The Sherpa word for “naked” represents the vision for next season. Soft and translucent materials from natural fibers, combined with linen, cotton and mesh fabric create “Wanderlust ” - looks for next summer.

Mark Stephen Baigent und Julia Rupertsberger, das junge und talentierte Modedesigner duo, lernten sich beim Modestudium in Linz kennen und wurden schnell gute Freunde.

„Rein in die Wanderschuhe und raus in die Welt“, ist das Motto von Mark&Julia für das Frühjahr/Sommer 2014 Kollektion. Mit ihrer neuen Kollektion PERTUNGBA für Frühjahr/Sommer 2014 präsentiert Mark&Julia eine Pilgerschaft durch den Himalaya, inspiriert von den in Tibet lebenden Sherpa.

Das Sherpa, Wort für „nackt“ repräsentiert die Visionen der Designer Julia Rupertsberger und Mark S. Baigent für die nächste Saison. Weiche und durchsichtige Materialien aus Naturfasern, kombiniert mit Leinen, Baumwolle und Netzstoff kreieren „Wanderlust“- Looks für kommenden Sommer.

EVOQUE NextGen Award 2013 - Nominees!

As part of the 13 festival for fashion & photography, I had the honor to sit at one table together with the jury of the EVOQUE NextGen Award.

For the third time Land Rover will present the EVOQUE Austria NextGen Award during the 13 festival. This award gives young creative fashion designers the chance to present themselves and their collection.

The jury is made from, Verena Kirchner (Land Rover Austria), Hermann Fankhauser (Wendy & Jim), Gabi Skach (Lecturer at the Fashion Institute in Hetzendorf/Vienna), Daniel Kalt (Die Presse), Nina Consemüller (PULS 4 Group) and Andreas Oberkanins (festival for fashion & photography) .

Im Zuge des 13 festival for fashion & photography, hatte ich die Ehre zusammen mit der Fachjury für den EVOQUE NextGen Award an einen Tisch zu sitzen.

Bereits zum dritten Mal wird Land Rover Austria den EVOQUE NextGen Award im Zuge des 13 festival vergeben. Dieser Award gibt jungen, kreativen Mode-Designern die Möglichkeit sich und ihre Kollektion zu präsentieren.

13 festival for fashion & photography takes place at the MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art from TUE 19. - FRI 22.11.2025

MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art is a decorative arts museum located at Stubenring 5, in Vienna’s first district. The MAK is the great new location of this year’s 13 festival for fashion & photography.

This museum focuses on applied arts, with an extensive art collection, of diverse epochs, materials, and artistic subjects at the interface of design, architecture and contemporary art.

The interaction between applied arts and two of its special fields, design and architecture, on the one hand, and contemporary art on the other, makes this museum even more powerful.

For almost 150 years the MAK has established an unparalleled collection of applied arts, design, architecture and contemporary art.

The collections of the MAK include a design collection, design-info-pool, furniture and a woodwork collection, a Asia collection, a contemporary art collecion, library and works on paper collection, a textiles and carpets collection, Wiener Werkstätte Archive, a metal collection, a glass collection and a ceramic collection.

Das MAK – Österreichisches Museum für angewandte Kunst / Gegenwartskunst befindet sich am Stubenring 5, in der Innenstadt (1010) von Wien. Das MAK ist die großartige neue Location des diesjährige 13 festival for fashion & photography.

Das Museum konzentriert sich auf angewandte Kunst, mit umfangreichen Kunstsammlungen, in verschiedene Epochen, Materialien und künstlerischen Disziplinen, einschließlich Design, Architektur und zeitgenössischer Kunst.

Die Interaktion zwischen Kunstgewerbe und zwei seiner Spezialgebiete, Design und Architektur, auf der einen Seite, und zeitgenössische Kunst auf der anderen Seite, macht dieses Museum noch leistungsfähiger.

Seit fast 150 Jahren ist das MAK zu einer Sammlung angewandter Kunst, Design, Architektur und zeitgenössischer Kunst entwickelt worden.

Die Sammlungen des MAK umfassen eine Design Sammlung, Design-Info-Pool, Möbel und Holzarbeiten, eine Asien Sammlung, Gegenwartskunst, eine Bibliothek und Kunstblättersammlung, Textilien und Teppiche, Wiener Werkstätte-Archiv, eine Metall, Glas und Keramik Sammlung.

Edisa Shahini, is known by the name “Disi” and for her impeccable style, tireless devotion to fashion and art. A Kosovar-Albanian girl turned a Vienna lady - is lucky enough to call Vienna home. Edisa is a marketing expert, social media nerd, fashion stylist and writer behind the fashion blog, Disi Couture. She is passionate about turning the runway into the realway and helping others to achieve their most fabulous, kick-butt self in the process. Her love for fashion and eye for stylish living has been evident since she first stole her mother’s heels at age 3 .

As many of you know, Edisa was part of the blogger team of 12 festival for fashion & photography, and this year together with her blogger friend Bianca, she will be a part of the festival for fashion & photography.

Bianca Fellinger - passionate about everything aesthetic and related to fashion, she is the black swan behind the blog, Worry About It Later. Seven years ago she left Upper Austria and landed in Vienna for studying - like no one else - communication studies. During the day she works as a marketing agent, thus the evenings are free for blogging. For being also busy over the weekend, almost weekly fashion meetings with Disi are a must. The name of her blog says it all, because Bianca enjoys life, rather than to shorten it with negative thoughts. However she never takes the clichéd fashion blogs too seriously, because after all -these are “First World Problems”, which are so beautifully showcased on a daily basis.
